All the ww2 sites are respected sacred grounds reflecting all souls from both sides that were lost , So let’s keep these sites as natural in keeping with nature as possible there are paths to walk among them so they don’t need anything else especially twee effi trinket landscaping , there’s enough flags around to almost ‘ Hollywood everything’ so the last thing that’s wanted are hotdog stands/ fairground rides & flashing neons . Memorials suffice.

We are currently visiting Normandy again (last time 6 years ago): Your list is still great imo. Azeville is still great, but Merville has really improved imo: the C47 you can get in and new displays make it so much better, so I would put it in there for my list: particularly for brits, canadians, dutch, belgian folks etc!

I believe the most devastating battle was at st Vith it was more armored battle than Bastone 101 were surrounded and the Germans went around it 🤔

This is a beautiful museum. The people who fought wars did so to support their nations and beliefs. All around the world I have been to war memorial museums…US, UK, West Germany, East Germany, South Korea and Japan too. War is horrible and usually completely STUPID! But, every nation must be allowed to mourn and venerate their war victims. Even the most awful deserve respect for serving the people of their country. The facts and the history must be taught. Even if it brings shame to any nation. That is why banning books or boycotting shrines is so evil!!! The past is the past and must be divulged to all! No nation is pure, no memorial is only for the good. Yasukuni is important and beautiful. It must be willing to show why it remains important by showing the way to peace. I have visited many times, and while I don’t always agree with some messages, I believe it keeps us engaged in discussions that might, one day, bring peace for all.

Look at the load and ask yourself the question: How does a 134 cu in (2.2 L) Inline 4 Willys L134 "Go Devil" 60 hp (45 kW; 61 PS) gross / 54 hp (40 kW; 55 PS) net engine propel a truck weighing 4000 pounds or more? Fuhgettaboutit!

I, as a German, have been to Omaha beach 14 years ago. One thing I regularly think about to this day, is when we visited a German AA placement near Omaha beach. On the floor, on the concrete, you could clearly read "Auch wenn wir sterben, Deutschland wird leben" which translates to "Even if we die, Germany will live". A German soldier must have carved this into the concrete when it was liquid. For some reason, I felt extremely overwhelmed by this. So many things from history usually don't really touch me emotionally, because I feel some sort of distance to historic events. But this one was different.

I have some of sword beach in ny shelf from where my grandad landed. These men are a generation truly lost.

@3:40 was that a rifle smoke grenade launcher with a wire going from the trigger to inside the tank, crafty way to first put smoke grenade launchers on tanks😂

Jean-Maurice Dicaire was my great uncle. He was the lone Canadian soldier killed in Goes on October 29, 1944. There is a stand-alone headstone in an official Commonwealth Cemetery in Goes. I’ve been there to pay my respects. Dutch people are truly grateful for Canadians to this day.

I visited the Grand Bunker in 2004 - it remains off the most impressive museums in Normandy. To actually stand in the observation level and look through the Range Finder was draw dropping. Thank you for the view, and looking forward to watching the complete video in the future

We visited de Battery of Macy last week. I can say it was not like you see in this video. It was cleaned up and the overgrowth and fallen trees were removed. I found it interesting and worth the visit.

My wife and I went to visit all of the Normandy war sites, including the cemetery at Colleville-sur-mer as well as the beach, exit, bunkers, etc we hired a local to give 2 full days of historical knowledge, it wasn’t too expensive and as told by a historian really interesting and touching - it’s hard to express the feelings the trip engendered in us, suffice it to say we were awed, respectful and appreciative of all that was done by every one of the brave troops. Anyone that can go should go to see and understand even a tiny bit of what happened on that day. It’s an easy train ride from Paris to Caen which in and of itself was great to visit too. We met some of the locals as we traveled from site to site on the coast and in Caen, they were unfailingly nice and kind to us we were proud to visit with them

People think that Maisy was covered up by the Yanks within days of being taken. Utter rubbish. Were that true, Gary Sterne's hope of finding lots of relics would have been realised. Reality was the locals stripped EVERYTHING out of the site before it was covered over.
